James S. Payne is a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, Ohio. Son of the late Harry E. and Imogene Payne, Jim graduated from South Point High School in 1980 and went on to obtain a B.B.A. from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. After graduating from Capital Law & Graduate Center, he obtained his license to practice law in the state of Ohio. He chose to stay in his hometown and opened his own law practice in 1994.
In addition to serving his clients, Jim has also served in various positions in the Lawrence County Bar Association. These positions included Secretary, Vice-President and President. He has spoken on legal topics on Law Day, both to local students as well as to the general public, and provided pro bono services to the elderly.
Jim is an avid runner, participating in numerous local races, many benefiting local charitable causes.
